The Department of Political Science offers two options for undergraduate study. Most students enroll in our Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) program, which requires 70 units of study in four departmental subfields. In addition, students interested in independent research have the option of applying to our Honors Program. This more advanced program includes the writing of a thesis and additional coursework beyond that required for the B.A. degree. The links below provide more information about these degrees, including requirements and application procedures.
Students in other departments can also choose to enroll in our minor program. The minor in Political Science requires 30 units of study and could easily be completed in one year, depending on a student's proposed program. If you are interested, please see a complete list of requirements.
The Department of Political Science is pleased to announce summer research positions for undergraduates. Participants will work directly with a faculty mentor for ten weeks and receive a $5,200 stipend. The program, which is part of the Summer Research College, is designed to foster close intellectual exchange by involving students in the ongoing research of Stanford professors. Information concerning the summer research program 2006-2007 can be found here.
