Jean-Paul Carvalho's research interests lie in culture, identity and institutions.
He is a member of the Institute for Mathematical Behavioral Sciences at UC Irvine and a Faculty Fellow of the Association for Analytic Learning about Islam & Muslim Societies (AALIMS).
After graduating from the University of Oxford (D.Phil., M.Phil.), under the supervision of H. Peyton Young, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Economics at Oxford. In 2009, he was named a Robert Solow Fellow of the Cournot Centre for Economic Studies in Paris. He's also a past recipient of the John Monash Scholarship.
