Denis Tchaouchev
Denis Tchaouchev is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania Perry World House. He researches the causes and consequences of international conflict in historical perspective. His dissertation studies the effect of technological change on the frequency of conflict and the relationship between war and redistribution. He constructs new historical datasets and employs a combination of causal inference methods and formal modeling.
Denis received a PhD in political science from Stanford University in 2025. Prior to graduate school, he developed fraud detection algorithms for Mastercard. He also holds an MS in computational and mathematical engineering from Stanford University and a BA in computer science and political science from Columbia University.
