Nandita Balakrishnan is a Ph.D. Candidate with a focus on international relations and comparative politics. Her research agenda in security studies includes particular interests in civil-military relations, political violence, and human rights.
She holds a B.A. in both International Studies (highest honors) and Economics from Emory University (May 2014). She was the 2014 recipient of the Levitas Award, Emory’s award for outstanding scholarship in political science by a graduating senior. She also holds an M.A. in Political Science from Stanford University, where she is a Stanford Interdisciplinary Graduate Fellow and an affiliate of the Center for South Asia.
